Chicken Chesapeake Recipe

Chicken Chesapeake (Recipe) is a great meal in which the two flavors of the land, namely the juicy and tender pieces of chicken breast, on one side and the rich and sweet flavors of the Maryland-style crab imperial on the other side, meet beautifully.

This recipe is the most tasteful seafood of the Chesapeake Bay. It uses fresh crab meat to transform a simple chicken dish into something you have never tasted before.

Preparation (Step by Step)

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This is done because of the oven which can reach the right temperature while the other ingredients are being retrieved.

Prepare the Chicken:

  • Here you can absolutely season the chicken breasts with some salt and pepper on both sides. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. The chicken breasts sould be now added and you will need to saute them for about 4 minutes on each side, until they get crisp and golden. So the next move is, you remove the chicken from the skillet and put the pieces in a baking dish.

Make Crab Imperial Mixture:

  • You can take a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and also can try Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice. Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being conscious not to break up the crab muscle. The effort is to sustain the soft lumps of crab meat intake for texture and taste.

Top the Chicken:

  • Distribute the crab mixture using the spoon equally on the top of each chicken breast. If you are using shredded cheddar cheese, apply it carefully on the crab mixture. The molten cheese will form a crust golden in color, which will then contribute to the overall taste of the dish.

Bake:

  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the crab topping is bubbly and golden. The inner temperature of the chicken shall be 165°F for it to get done.

Decoration and Service:

  • 145 Cook it at high heat for a moment and then turn it off. The chicken is then put aside and left for a few minutes to set up. Fresh parsley flakes may be the only decoration you need to make this dish more colorful and flavorful. Besides, it can be served with steamed vegetables, rice, and garden salad.

Cook’s Note

  • Incubating fresh crab meat brings a unique tweak to this dish, as it supports a sweeter and more gentle flavor than canned crab.
  • As an Old Bay replacement, mix celery salt, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper together to make your own spice blend.
  • If you want to enhance the taste, add a few droplets of Worcestershire sauce to the crab mixture.
